Lymphatic Drainage Massage in Prescott Valley

Gentle, Rhythmic Massage to Support Your Lymphatic System

Sometimes your body doesn’t need more pressure—it needs a gentler approach.

At Spirit & Body Massage in Prescott Valley, Linda and Melissa offer Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) using gentle, rhythmic techniques designed to encourage the natural movement of lymphatic fluid throughout the body.

This light-touch massage can be especially comforting when you’re experiencing puffiness or fluid retention, recovering from travel or surgery, managing inflammation, or simply feeling heavy, sluggish, or in need of deeply restorative care.

Clients often tell us they leave feeling lighter, less swollen, deeply relaxed, and refreshed.

What Is Manual Lymphatic Drainage?

Your lymphatic system plays an important role in fluid balance, immune function, and your body’s natural process of removing cellular waste.

Unlike the circulatory system, the lymphatic system does not have a heart continuously pumping fluid through it. Lymph movement is supported by breathing, muscle movement, changes in pressure within the body, and the contraction of lymphatic vessels themselves.

Manual Lymphatic Drainage, or MLD, uses very light, rhythmic movements to encourage the natural movement of lymphatic fluid.

The technique may feel surprisingly gentle—especially if you’re accustomed to traditional or deep-tissue massage. That’s intentional. Many lymphatic vessels are located close to the surface of the skin, so lymphatic work doesn’t require heavy pressure to be effective.

At Spirit & Body Massage, our therapists were introduced to and trained in Manual Lymphatic Drainage using the Vodder technique as part of their comprehensive 800-hour massage therapy education. We offer MLD within our scope as licensed massage therapists; we do not represent ourselves as Certified Lymphedema Therapists or advanced lymphatic specialists.

Why Clients Choose Lymphatic Drainage in Prescott Valley

You don’t have to be experiencing a medical condition to appreciate lymphatic massage.

Some clients choose MLD because they’re feeling swollen or puffy. Others incorporate it into their wellness routine, use it during appropriate stages of post-surgical recovery, or simply discover that their bodies respond beautifully to this exceptionally gentle form of massage.

Our approach is never one-size-fits-all. Linda and Melissa listen to what you’re experiencing, consider your health history and goals, and determine how lymphatic techniques can appropriately fit into your massage session.

Lymphatic Drainage May Help

  • Encourage healthy lymphatic flow and the movement of excess fluid.
  • Reduce feelings of puffiness, swelling, and fluid retention.
  • Support the body’s natural waste-removal and detoxification processes.
  • Support healthy immune and lymphatic system function.
  • Provide gentle support during appropriate stages of post-surgical recovery.
  • Ease the heavy or congested feeling that can accompany travel, inactivity, or fluid retention.
  • Encourage deep relaxation through slow, rhythmic touch.
  • Complement your regular wellness and self-care routine.

What to Expect at Spirit & Body Massage

Forget the idea that massage has to hurt—or even use firm pressure—to accomplish something.

Manual Lymphatic Drainage is exceptionally gentle. Your therapist uses slow, rhythmic movements and subtle stretching of the skin to encourage lymphatic movement.

Many clients are surprised by just how relaxing it feels. Falling asleep isn’t unusual.

And gentle doesn’t necessarily mean you’ll notice nothing afterward. Our clients frequently tell us they feel lighter, notice a visible or noticeable reduction in swelling, and experience an overall sense of relaxation and well-being following their session.

Lymphatic Techniques Can Also Be Blended Into Your Massage

Lymphatic drainage doesn’t always have to be a stand-alone session.

For some clients, we incorporate lymphatic techniques into a traditional Swedish or therapeutic massage. For example, your therapist may finish an upper-body massage with gentle lymphatic work and rhythmic tapping when congestion or a feeling of heaviness is part of what brought you in.

This is one of the things we love about individualized massage: your session can be shaped around what your body needs that day.

Choose the Session That Fits Your Needs

30-Minute Focused Lymphatic Drainage

Ideal when you want to concentrate on a specific area rather than receive full-body lymphatic work. Your therapist will focus the session according to your needs and health history.

60-Minute Full-Body Lymphatic Drainage

A gentle, full-body MLD session for clients looking for more comprehensive lymphatic support, fluid movement, and deep relaxation.

90-Minute Therapeutic Massage + Focused Lymphatic Drainage

For clients who want the benefits of traditional therapeutic massage along with lymphatic techniques, a 90-minute session gives us time to address muscular tension and finish with focused MLD where appropriate.

The blended 90-minute service is intended for general massage and wellness needs and is not our approach for clients seeking massage specifically for lymphedema.

How We Offer It

Therapist performing gentle lymphatic massage on client’s neck to promote detoxification and immune health at Spirit & Body Massage Prescott Valley

At Spirit & Body Massage, lymphatic drainage is provided by licensed massage therapists who received training in Manual Lymphatic Drainage and the Vodder technique during their massage therapy education.

We believe it’s important to be equally clear about what that means—and what it doesn’t.

We are trained and experienced in providing Manual Lymphatic Drainage as licensed massage therapists, but we do not advertise ourselves as Certified Lymphedema Therapists (CLTs) or advanced lymphatic specialists.

Our clients choose us because they value thoughtful massage, individualized care, gentle hands, and therapists who listen. If your health history indicates that massage should be modified, postponed, or coordinated with your healthcare provider, we’ll talk with you about that before proceeding.

Give your body a gentler kind of care. Request a lymphatic drainage massage in Prescott Valley and discover why such a light touch can feel so restorative.

Lymphatic Drainage Massage — Frequently Asked Questions

How is lymphatic drainage different from regular massage?

Traditional massage focuses on muscles, circulation, and tension relief. Lymphatic drainage targets the lymphatic system with specific sequences of light, rhythmic strokes to move lymph fluid. It’s designed for detox, swelling reduction, and immune support rather than deep muscle work.

Why is lymphatic massage such a light pressure?

Unlike deep tissue massage, lymphatic drainage works with the surface layers of the skin where the lymph vessels are located. Gentle, rhythmic strokes are most effective for stimulating lymph flow. Even though the touch feels light, it’s precisely this subtle technique that helps reduce swelling, support immunity, and restore balance.

Can lymphatic drainage help reduce scar tissue after surgery?

Yes. By increasing lymph flow and nutrient delivery while reducing swelling, MLD can support tissue regeneration and help soften and minimize scar tissue formation at incision sites.

Do I undress for this type of massage?

For lymphatic drainage, you’ll be comfortably draped just like in a traditional massage. Most clients choose to undress to their level of comfort, but lightweight clothing can also be worn since the pressure is so gentle. Your privacy and comfort are always respected.

How soon will I see results?

Many clients notice reduced swelling or a lighter feeling right after their first session. Regular sessions offer cumulative benefits.

Do I need a doctor’s referral?

Not for wellness sessions. If you have a medical condition or recent surgery, it’s wise to consult your healthcare provider first.
